Terms & privacy
Last updated 28 October 2026. The Veil is operated by [your company name], contactable at hello@example.com. Replace these details before you take live payments.
1. What you are buying
The Veil is a one-off, private, browser-based tarot sitting. For 99p you receive one conversation with a card reader called Madame Serafina, a tarot spread drawn from a 78-card deck, a synthesised voice performance, captions, and a saved transcript in your reading room. The sitting is intended to last around twelve minutes. It is a digital service supplied immediately.
2. Price and payment
The price is shown before you pay and is charged in pounds sterling. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details. The price is a single charge: there is no subscription and no automatic renewal.
You must be 18 or over to buy a sitting. By paying you confirm that you are.
3. Cancellation and refunds
Because the sitting is digital content supplied immediately, you lose the statutory 14-day right to cancel once the sitting begins. We ask you to acknowledge this before payment.
If a payment succeeds but the sitting cannot be started, or a technical fault prevents the sitting from running at all, contact us and we will refund the 99p. If the sitting has already begun, the fee is non-refundable, including where you choose to leave early.
4. The medium is a performed character
Madame Serafina is not a human being. Her words are generated by a language model, her voice is synthesised, and her face is a real-time 3D character built in Blender. The tarot deck is real, the shuffle is random, and the reading is written for your question — but the medium is a performance, and the whole service is entertainment.
5. What the sitting will not do
Readings are reflective, not predictive. Nothing said in a sitting is a statement of fact about the future, about another person, or about your health, fertility, legal position or finances. The service must not be used as a substitute for professional medical, psychological, legal, financial or employment advice.
We use guardrails to stop the character from diagnosing illness, advising on medication, giving investment or legal advice, predicting a death or its timing, or guaranteeing an outcome. If you ask for those things, she will decline and turn the reading back to what the cards can reflect.
6. If you are in crisis
The cards are not an emergency service. If you are thinking about harming yourself, the sitting will stop and you will be shown sources of real help. Please use them.

7. Privacy and your data
Your camera. The self-view is captured by your browser and displayed only in your own tab. It is never uploaded, recorded, or sent to us or to any third party. Turning the camera off stops the capture.
Your microphone. If you use the microphone button, your browser's speech-recognition service converts your speech to text. That processing is performed by your browser or its provider (for example Google or Apple), not by The Veil, and is subject to their terms. We receive only the resulting text. Typing avoids this entirely.
What we store. We store the name you give, the matter and question you select, your answers, the cards drawn, the transcript, and the time of the sitting. We associate these with an anonymous key in a first-party cookie so you can return to your reading room. We do not ask for an email address or an account.
The model provider. To compose the reading, the name you give, your question, your answers and the cards drawn are sent to our language-model provider so it can generate the text. The current configuration uses OpenCode Go with the DeepSeek V4.1 Flash model, which under its current terms is not used for training and has zero-day retention; model choice may change. Your camera image, payment details and email are never sent to the model. The provider receives only what is needed to write the reply.
Voice audio. The spoken lines are synthesised by ElevenLabs and cached as audio files on our server so a replay does not need to be generated again. The cache contains the reading text, not a recording of you.
Retention. Sittings are kept for 120 days and then deleted. We keep only what is needed to run the service. You can ask us to delete a sitting earlier by contacting us with its link.
Cookies. We set one essential first-party cookie (veil_owner)
so your reading room works. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics in
this build.
Your rights. Under UK data protection law you may ask for a copy of your data, its correction, or its deletion. Contact hello@example.com.
8. Fair use
Do not use the service to harass, to attempt to break the character's safety rules, to extract the underlying prompts, or to process another person's sensitive data without their consent. We may end a sitting that is being abused. Automated access, scraping and resale are not permitted.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, the service is provided as entertainment without warranties, and our total liability arising from a sitting is limited to the 99p you paid for it.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
